Insurance for your classic car, by people who love them just as much as you do
Its not just any car, so don’t get just any insurance
How does it work?
At Stonewall Insurance Group, we use Agreed Value Coverage to guarantee that your classic or collector car is valued fairly and to your satisfaction. This means that, long before anything unfortunate happens to it, we will negotiate a value with the insurance company. The majority of companies we deal with don’t require an appraisal; instead, they depend on your input (the customer), our years of expertise, and their knowledge of the industry to determine the highest value for your car.
In the event that your car is ever deemed as a total loss, we want to ease the pain by giving you the largest check possible without any delays or constraints.

FAQ’s about Classic Car Insurance
1. Are there restrictions or limitations on driving my classic car?
Cars were meant to be driven, and that’s why we want you to drive them! We make sure our policies have no mileage restrictions or mileage limits so you have the freedom and flexibility to drive your collector vehicles as much as you want. Having said that, the Insurance Companies do have one requirement; your classic car cannot be your daily driver. This means you have to have another car registered in your name and don’t use your classic or collector car to commute to work every day.
2. What does classic and collector car insurance cover?
There are two basic pillars of coverage for collector car insurance. Liability coverage offers protection in the event that the owner (you) is held legally responsible for inflicting property or bodily harm while operating the covered collector car. The other pillar is physical damage coverage, which covers something happening to the car itself. This covers things like theft, collision, vandalism, and catastrophes such as floods and fires.
3. Does my car qualify for classic car insurance?
In order to be eligible for collector car insurance, your car must be appreciating in value. This doesn’t mean that the car must be worth millions of dollars, just that its value is rising over time. There is no specific age requirement, so some brand-new cars may still be eligible for a collector car insurance policy.
4. If I bring my classic car out of the country, will I be covered?
Simply put, yes, we have policies put in place that are designed for this very question. If you do bring your car abroad, we can insure it, but we must be informed in advance so that we can arrange the coverage beforehand.
5. How expensive is classic car insurance?
The rates of each policy vary based on the value of the car, where it is stored, and how you intend to use it. Typically, policies cost anywhere between $80-$450 per year, which is far less than standard auto insurance. Here at Stonewall Insurance Group, we have a unique bundling program that allows us to offer discounts based on what you insure with us and your driving history. You can get a free quote by contacting us or using the request a quote form to find out exactly how much yours would cost.
6. How old do I have to be to get classic car insurance?
At Stonewall Insurance Group, young drivers are not a problem! We have policies in place that can insure anyone 18 years old or older for their own classic vehicle policy as long as they have another car in their name that is considered their daily driver.
7. Does my car need to be appraised?
Simply put, no, your car does not need to be appraised in order to receive an accurate valuation; however, if you think it’s necessary, you may request one. Usually, this is the case for heavily modified cars, because the market value does not reflect the true value of the vehicle. If needed, you can check out our list of recommended appraisers by clicking here.
8. How many collector car insurance companies are there?
The insurance companies we usually deal with are Hagerty, American Collectors, JC Taylor, American Modern, Condon & Skelly, Chubb, AIG, and Safeco.
9. Can I get classic car insurance for my daily driver?
A daily driver is a car that you use for your normal commute or errands. Due to the increased risk of how often your daily driver is driven, there are limitations on how the car is used that prevent a daily driver from receiving a collector car insurance policy. So the answer would be no, you cannot get a classic car insurance policy for your daily driver.
10. Does my collector car have to be stored in a secure garage?
No, not necessarily. We have programs available for other storage options as well, including driveways, public parking facilities, and car ports. However, additional security features can help us offer additional discounts.
11. Is Hagerty the best classic car insurance company?
That’s a tough question to answer. At Stonewall Insurance Group, we tailor your insurance programs to the type of classic or collector car(s) that you have and how you intend to use them. We then go and find the best insurance carrier for your situation. Hagerty is a great company that we use for many of our customers, however, for some, we can find a better option for their specific needs.
